Why is salary info an essential part of any job ad?
At Five Hour Club, we ask employers to share the actual salary for the hours required. It removes a key barrier for parents, helps them make quick, informed decisions, and builds trust. Transparent pay attracts genuinely interested applicants and leads to stronger, long-term working relationships.
What trends are you noticing when it comes to salary transparency on job ads?
We're glad to say that we've noticed more employers sharing their actual salary on job posts, with transparency becoming the norm. Applicants expect it, and laws in more regions are making it a requirement. Hiding pay now feels outdated and a red flag for those who are looking for a positive culture to work in.

How can job boards play a role in making salary transparency on job boards the norm?
As a job board we have an opportunity and a responsibility to set the standard. At Five Hour Club, we encourage every employer to share the actual salary for the hours needed, particularly as we share reduced-hour roles. We also educate employers on the clear benefits: better applicant fit, faster hires, stronger brand perception. The more we highlight and reward transparent job posts, the more the industry shifts in that direction.
What do you say to employers who want to post an ad with your job board without including salary info?
Based on our Five Hour Workday Criteria we are unable to verify any employers who do not wish to share their actual salary, as a way to protect parents who are often so eager to work that they risk being taken advantage of. If as an employer you’re worried about flexibility or attracting the right talent, post a range and explain it’s negotiable. The important thing is to give applicants a fair, realistic sense of the offer. It’s better for them, better for you, and better for your company.
